Dish tv some time back came with 'Dish Freedom card' a new offer which might change the DTH scene. Till now in India we are not able to get just the CAM or Card. We have to buy the full set which includes Dishes, cable, STB with built in CAM and card. All DTH follows this policy violating TRAI rules regarding this.
This is just waste of money for people who already have everything other than the smart card. Now with this Dish tv offer we can just buy their CAM and use that on our non Dish tv stbs which are having CAM slot and enjoy some selected channels from Dish tv.
Cost of the CAM is Rs.990 and we will get 16 channels for 12 months of view.
Pros: New concept for India and Dish tv is bold to come with it.
Cons: It doesnt have many popular channels which otherwise is available on other regular packs which can be only used with their stb.
Just for 16 channels they are charging Rs.250 for 6 months & Rs.450 for a year.Even in that other than 2-3 channels rest are Free to Air channels.
When someone is already having stb it must be mostly for Cband and it doesn't make sense to pay for what otherwise is free to air channel.

As per their site they are putting DD direct channels which are completely free to air and it doesnt need their CAM. Dish tv has put that in their site just to look like they are giving 16+59 tv channels & 22 radio channels. They also know that hardly anyone going to buy their freedom CAM.
